Meet the Brand

Jean-Michel Gires was a traveller, photographer, and lover of impressionist art. Inspired by the natural world around him, he captured light, reflection, and colour through his camera lens and transformed those images into wearable silk art scarves and accessories.

Each piece carries the story of the place that inspired it. When you wear a By Jean Michel scarf, you are wearing more than an accessory. You are wearing a moment caught in nature, printed onto silk.

Originally from France and based in Calgary, Jean-Michel designed every piece in Canada before having them crafted in France, Bali, and Indonesia. His work has been exhibited across the world, from Canada to China to Bolivia.

By Jean Michel was founded in 2015 and has been bringing wearable art to silk scarves, pocket squares, ties, and leggings since then.
