The Celestial Steed Scarf in Mercury/Moonstone - 90 cm
Through its blend of strength, beauty, and celestial symbolism, the composition reflects a timeless message of hope: every sunset is followed by a new dawn.
From Sabina Savage’s Fairytale di Firenze collection, The Celestial Steed stands suspended between night and day beneath a heraldic sun, moon, and stars. Inspired by the art of the Italian Renaissance, the design celebrates the powerful form of the horse through bold architectural lines reminiscent of the studies of Antonio Pisanello and the equestrian works of Albrecht Dürer.
Armour elements such as a sabaton, gauntlet, and striped jousting pole reference historical tournament regalia, while the horse’s carnival-like attire recalls Renaissance festivities. In contrast, delicate carnations and daisies soften the metallic forms. Carnations symbolize devotion and divine love, while daisies, known to follow the movement of the sun, represent renewal and resurrection.
The design also nods to the celebrated 1469 tournament hosted by Lorenzo de' Medici and to Orso, the famed mount of Giuliano de' Medici. Through its blend of strength, beauty, and celestial symbolism, the composition reflects a timeless message of hope: every sunset is followed by a new dawn.
