The Celestial Steed stands between night and day beneath a glowing sun, moon and star-filled sky. Pieces of silver armour highlight the horse’s strength, while delicate carnations and daisies bring softness to the scene. Carnations represent devotion and love, while daisies open and close with the sun, symbolizing hope, renewal and resurrection.

The Sabina Savage design was inspired by Italian Renaissance art and Orso, the celebrated horse from Lorenzo de’ Medici’s 1469 jousting tournament. The powerful horse motif also draws from Antonio Pisanello’s horse studies and other Renaissance equestrian artworks.

Details such as the armoured shoe, gauntlet, striped jousting pole and decorated carnival clothing were inspired by historical Renaissance tournaments. Sheer fabrics and delicate flowers appear alongside the armour, creating a beautiful contrast between strength and fragility.

The playful text within the design references Giuliano de’ Medici’s famous horse.
