Rooted in the art, pottery, poetry, and literature of ancient Greece, this design celebrates Delphinus, the shining, leaping dolphin of Greek myth and the selfless saviour of the poet Arion. Delphinus wears a string of golden stars and carries Arion's kithara as he leaps above a wooden trireme, the ancient seafaring vessel immortalized in Homer's Iliad.

An arc of nautical details frames the central scene, from shells and iridescent flying fish to sculpted vessels and vases, crowned by a shimmering octopus. Ocean-inspired coins from towns across ancient Greece pepper the border, while terracotta treasures overgrown with vibrant sea flowers fill each corner. At the base, the eyes of Pallas Athene watch over sweet Delphinus, fallen from a statue raised in her honour. A border inspired by the great vase painters of ancient Greece completes the composition.
